A Netnography OER

The Open Education Resource (OER) you are currently exploring covers Netnography. Among the digital methods introduced as part of Dimpah (see below), Netnography includes special techniques for humanities scholars to consider. First, Netnography has its base in the social sciences and - as such - aims to deeply study online forms of sociality. Second, Netnography is a mixed-methods research approach, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques. Hence, quantitative techniques like network analysis (which is more familiar among digital methods) are simply one approach in Netnography complemented by qualitative approaches that allow for rich and deep descriptions of social interactions online. For these reasons, Netnography is the chosen concept and methodology of this OER, even though several other strands of online ethnography exist.

What is Dimpah?

The Digital Methods Platform for Arts and Humanities (Dimpah) is a project co-funded by Erasmus+ 2021-2023. Dimpah's objective is to aggregate, connect, and make widely available OERs on selected digital methods, to apply these methods to interdisciplinary contexts and to foster novel creative learning experiences by utilising data on the past for future stories.
